Kenny Green

Boys Power 5 Basketball Head Coach

Coach Kenny Green has had immense experience in the game of basketball at a high level as a former player and now coach. His time at URI from 1985-1990, was notable for his responsibility of a Sweet Sixteen presence and quite a record-breaker. His professional appearance in Italy and the NBA Summer League showcase his worldly knowledge of coaching and basketball styles of the game. Although still in his first year, Green's presence has already set him apart from other coaches as his Power 5 Boys team is in the playoffs. With a retired number and an inductee in the URI Hall of Fame, his knowledge and coaching are an asset to The Winchendon School's Boys Basketball Program.

Jeff Pellegrini

Director of Hockey

Jeff Pellegrini has racked up vast hockey knowledge and coaching skills through his 15 years of NCAA Division l and Division lll collegiate coaching experience.  His experience includes six years coaching women's hockey at Northeastern University and guiding the Huskies to the program's first-ever Hockey East Championship (2018). His guidance in developing players means he will help drive broad program development, such as recruiting and development of all players across The Winchendon School's teams. Finishing up his second year at The Winchendon School, Jeff looks to rank the girls amongst the best of the prep school programs, especially for those student-athletes who are seeking both Winchendon's style of highly personalized and fully immersive learning and the opportunity to play and be recruited at the highest levels.

Niya Johnson

Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach

Niya Johnson’s experience as a Division I athlete made her ideal to join The Winchendon School’s Humanities Department and Athletic Department as a Head Coach for the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team. She attended The University of Massachusetts Lowell, receiving her Bachelor’s in English with a minor in marketing, before earning her Master’s in Business. In high school, Niya was recognized for over a 1,500-point basketball career, was a 2016 McDonald’s All-American nominee, named First Team All-Brooklyn in junior season, and Third Team All-Brooklyn in sophomore season. Niya has already been a presence for our program in her first year, as she is a crucial element in guiding the girls and supporting them off the court in their academics.

John Toffey

Boys Varsity Baseball Head Coach

For Coach John Toffey, playing with the Tamba Bay Lightning for three years and being drafted by the Colorado Rockies has leveraged his experience. His transition to The Winchendon School as Assistant Head of School for Enrollment and the Varsity Baseball Coach holds a dangerous competition to our competitors. Toffey has recruited the most talented athletes, sending them to the most prestigious baseball programs and MLB teams, prevalent to recent commits to the New York Yankees, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Dartmouth, UCONN, Northeastern, Vanderbilt, Clemson, UMass Amherst and many more. He has been mentioned in the New England Baseball Journal and led the program to consecutive playoff and finalist appearances, winning Championships.
